Attractions Introduction:
Confederation Bridge:
Spanning the Northumberland Strait, the Confederation Bridge connects New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, stretching 12.9 kilometers—making it one of the world’s longest bridges over ice-covered waters. This magnificent cable-stayed bridge, opened in 1997, replaced traditional ferry services, becoming the land gateway to PEI. Its design combats strong winds, ocean currents, and winter ice, with a curved structure that enhances wind resistance while adding aesthetic appeal.
Marine Rail Park:
Adjacent to the iconic Confederation Bridge, this coastal park blends history, nature, and leisure. Celebrating PEI’s maritime and railway heritage, it features preserved rail tracks, vintage train cars, and interpretive displays recounting the late 19th to mid-20th-century ferry and rail transport between the island and mainland. Once a vital hub for cross-strait rail ferries, it linked PEI’s transportation lifeline to New Brunswick.
Victoria-by-the-Sea:
Nestled along the Northumberland Strait, this charming village retains 19th-century wooden buildings, an old post office, and St. John’s Church, offering a step back in time. It’s also home to galleries, pottery studios, and artisan shops where local artists create and exhibit. Visitors can savor fresh lobster, oysters, and island-famous ice cream.
